ourse Title: Safe & Strong – Self-Defense and Awareness for Kids (Ages 4–12)

  • Build confidence and assertiveness

  • Teach age-appropriate physical self-defense skills

  • Improve awareness of surroundings and personal safety

  • Empower children to prevent, avoid, or respond to unsafe situations

???? Level 1: Ages 4–6 (Little Defenders)

Focus: Basic safety, body boundaries, simple movements

Week 1: Introduction to Personal Safety

  • Understanding “safe” vs “unsafe”

  • Trusted adults

  • Good touch / bad touch / confusing touch

Week 2: Awareness Games

  • Paying attention to surroundings

  • Stranger vs tricky people

  • Playing “What’s different?” awareness games

Week 3: Using Your Voice

  • “No!” “Stop!” “I don’t like that!”

  • Role-play: Yelling for help safely

Week 4: Safe Distances

  • “Bubble” space exercises

  • Walking away, going to an adult

Week 5: Escape Basics

  • Wrist release technique

  • Basic falling and getting up safely

Week 6: Practice Day

  • Review all skills with games and scenarios

Focus: Assertiveness, escapes, environment scanning

Week 1: Situational Awareness

  • Safe routes, exits, spotting danger

  • Color code alert levels (white to red)

Week 2: Assertive Body Language

  • Posture, eye contact, confidence drills

Week 3: Physical Self-Defense I

  • Wrist grabs

  • Arm grabs

  • Yell, break free, run

Week 4: Physical Self-Defense II

  • Push escapes

  • Shoulder grabs

  • Basic palm strike / knee strike (to pads)

Week 5: Safe Boundaries & Secrets

  • “No secret touching” rule

  • Practicing “NO-GO-TELL”

Week 6: Scenario Training

  • Playground, stranger at door, someone follows

  • Role-plays with feedback

Focus: Enhanced techniques, decision-making, confidence

Week 1: Threat Recognition

  • Reading body language

  • Noticing unsafe situations early

Week 2: Self-Defense Basics Refresher

  • Reinforce grab releases and strikes

  • Introduce balance and angles

Week 3: Verbal Defense (Boundary Setting)

  • Using strong voice effectively

  • De-escalation practice

Week 4: Advanced Techniques

  • Bear hug from behind/front

  • Hair grab release

  • Ground defense basics

Week 5: Real-Life Situations

  • Walking alone, online safety talk

  • Getting help from strangers (safe adults)

Week 6: Confidence & Leadership

  • Teach-back challenge
