Karate Profile

Sensei Qasim Suleman is the founder and Shihan (Chief Instructor) of Shotokan Karate Schools Pakistan (SKS) and the group leader of SKIF Pakistan. He is a recognized internationally qualified Instructor and achieved his dan grading at SKIF Tokyo, Japan GHQ, under the legendary Soke Kanazawa, the only living student of the founder of Karate, Funakoshi Gichin.

Since 2015, Sensei Qasim has represented Pakistan in the SKIF International Seminars annually. His dedication to promoting karate globally is further reflected in his participation in numerous international karate championships, where he has proudly raised the Pakistani flag among many nations. Most notably, he won a silver medal at the International Karate Championship held in Busan, Korea, from May 30 to June 4, 2018. Also recently Sensei Qasim Suleman, Head of Shotokan Karate Schools, won a bronze medal at the 15th Korea Open Karatedo Championship & Senior Club Championship, held from October 26 to October 30, 2023, in Busan, Korea.

In August 2016, Sensei Qasim represented Pakistan at the World SKIF Championship in Jakarta, Indonesia, competing among athletes from 52 countries.

Born on March 31, 1976, Sensei Qasim began his martial arts journey at 12. He trained in Taekwondo, Kung Fu, Boxing, and Judo, but his passion for Shotokan Karate became the primary focus of his martial arts career. He continues to practice and teach Shotokan Karate with a strong commitment to its principles.

He believes that it is essential to incorporate all aspects of karate in his lessons, especially for kids, including exercise, flexibility, coordination, discipline, self-defense, and an element of fun. As he says:
“It is important to incorporate every aspect of karate for kids into each lesson—exercise, flexibility, coordination, discipline, self-defense, and a bit of fun.”
“I have always trained in Shotokan Karate, an ancient and traditional style, and I make sure my classes reflect the strong basics and discipline that Shotokan is known for.”

  • 7 years of experience as the Head of Computer Science at PakTurk International Schools & Colleges, Islamabad, Pakistan.
  • Since 2013, serving as the Head of the Production Department at the international NGO Helping Hands for Relief and Development.
  • Currently the Head of Shotokan Karate Schools and the President of Pakistan SKIF.
