Dojo Rules & Regulations
Conduct:
- Members of Karate-Ka (karate students) must conduct themselves with utmost humility and respect for themselves and the dojo.
- Karate-Ka should be loyal, honest, and possess a high degree of integrity, aiming to develop cooperation and trust with fellow Karate-Ka, Assistant Instructors, and Sensei (Teacher).
Safety and Protection Guidelines:
- Leave shoes, socks, and all jewelry outside the Dojo.
- Do not consume food, drink, or chewing gum in the Dojo.
- Do not use electronic devices (mobile, tablets, etc.). In case of emergency, use is permitted after obtaining permission from Sensei or Assistant Instructor.
- Arrive 10 minutes early to warm up and stretch muscles before class begins.
- Address the head instructor as Sensei while in the Dojo or any Karate environment.
- Strictly follow instructions from Sensei or Assistant Instructors and ignore other distractions.
- Students aged 4-17 should not use any equipment unless authorized by Sensei or Assistant Instructor.
- Maintain silence in the class. Raise your hand for queries and wait for Sensei to acknowledge.
- Maintain discipline by keeping your body clean, and toenails clipped short, smooth, and clean. Fingernails should also be smooth and clean.
- Wear a clean and tidy GI (uniform) with chest patch and respective belt regularly to class.
- Follow class timings strictly and avoid unnecessary breaks. In emergencies, get permission from Sensei or Assistant Instructor.
Class Protocol:
- If late to class: Warm up and stretch on your own before starting class activities. After warming up, wait for Sensei or Assistant Instructor to acknowledge you before joining the regular session.
- Do not leave early from class (before the closing bow) without being officially dismissed by Sensei or Assistant Instructor.
- No sparring or other activities without permission. When sparring or interacting with others, especially those lower in rank, always consider their limitations and adjust your technique’s speed and power accordingly.
- Maintain temperament in the Dojo, especially during sparring or interacting with other students.
- Never use your skills aggressively or imprudently, inside or outside the Dojo.
- Sensei or Assistant Instructor will inform students about eligibility for the next belt grade based on their performance in class.
- Do not train at or belong to any other Dojo or martial arts class without permission while receiving instruction in Karate.
- Follow this mantra: Leave your ego at the door. Respect all, especially yourself.
Fees and Membership:
- The fee is non-refundable and non-transferable.
- If a member does not attend for any reason within a month, the fee will not be carried over to the next month.
- To freeze membership, inform at the beginning of the month and pay half the fee for that month.
- Failure to notify will result in membership cancellation, and a new registration fee will be required upon rejoining.
